Sources of behaviour change:

Learning is a (relatively) enduring change in the neural connections formed between various environmental events (behaviour), resulting from experience relating to them.

Advantages to Being a Better Learner

  • Survival Based
    • Obtaining Food
    • Reproduction
    • Avoiding Predators
  • Modern Society
    • Learning to interact with people

Mental health disorders can be symptomised by overlearning, and learning the 'wrong' lesson. These individuals learn about the world in a different way, affecting interactions with others.

Associative Learning

Associative learning is where we link two stimuli (events) together and condition a response with them.

Non-Associative Learning

Non-Associative learning is where a reaction to a stimuli (event) is increased/decreased over time, as it is learnt to be expected.
